I want to start off by saying I'm not here to bash the developers at all. I just want to say I miss the old Shake It Photo app before the new v1.3 update.
You see before upgrading, I thought today's update was just going to include the much needed full-res support. Unfortunately, the actual processing of the image was tweaked quite significantly.
As you can see in the example above the old version added in some heavy contrast, vignetting and saturation. But the new version seems to take a complete 180 by desaturating the image, toning back the vignetting, giving it a faded retro look. Which to be honest is still a cool effect, just not at the cost of losing the previous version's processing.
For me it all comes down to I used Shake It Photo because I liked the "punch" it gave my photos. It "enhanced" my shots with just one click. Now it's taking on a whole new look and I don't want all my photos to have a retro vibe, that's what PictureShow, and Instagram are for.
So unfortunately I'm going to have to downgrade to the old version (if you want to as well the details how to do that are here, thanks Miki).
One thing I really like about the Banana Camera Co., the makers of the app, is that they are FANTASTIC with interacting and listening to their users. Nick and Alexia are quite awesome at replying to tweets and comments. So who knows, maybe they'll take this all in and release a version with the old processing as an option or maybe they won't and this is just the way it is. Either way I'm crossing my fingers…
