Addicted to Instagram

Instagram

I have been using Instagram nonstop for the past week and half. Months and months ago I remember installing the app, but I never really used t. But it's now safe to say I'm addicted. I think what's changed for me is the community has really grown into something amazing.

So this weekend I was super happy because three of my pics made it to Instagram's Popular. That was my first time! I only was able to grab a screenshot of one of the pics, but I keep telling myself that it makes up for me never getting "Explored" on Flickr.

If you want have Instagram and want to add me my user name is @dirka.

One year ago I joined Flickr thinking it would be a cool place to post some of my iPhone photos. I never thought I would even get 1,000 views on the photos I took with my "cellphone". So 35,000 views is just crazy to me. With that said I just wanted to say thanks to all of you who take the time to even glance at a photo I take. It really means a lot to me.

How to Make a Soccer Ball

I grew up with soccer for most of my life. My dad was a team coach, an instructor, and the head of a club soccer league. So naturally I got involved in soccer early on, playing everything from AYSO, AYSO Select, indoor, to even club soccer. One really cool memory I have is when my dad took me to see the US team play Argentina in the 1994 World Cup Series (that was a fun game even though an Argentina fan threw soda on us and our whole row because they were losing). Anyways, I always enjoyed playing soccer but there came a point where I just needed a change, especially after 12 years of it. So I dropped it and picked up a basketball and the guitar instead. Dad this post if for you!

Below is a pretty fascinating video of the production process behind the official 2010 FIFA World Cup ball.
