iPhoneography + the things that inspire me from the Internets. Enjoy.
An unexpected side-effect of the flooding in parts of Pakistan has been that millions of spiders climbed up into the trees to escape the rising flood waters.
Because of the scale of the flooding and the fact that the water has taken so long to recede, many trees have become cocooned in spiders webs. People in this part of Sindh have never seen this phenonemon before - but they also report that there are now less mosquitos than they would expect, given the amoungt of stagnant, standing water that is around.
One year ago I joined Flickr thinking it would be a cool place to post some of my iPhone photos. I never thought I would even get 1,000 views on the photos I took with my "cellphone". So 35,000 views is just crazy to me. With that said I just wanted to say thanks to all of you who take the time to even glance at a photo I take. It really means a lot to me.
During my lunch today I went and checked out my Flickr stats and was pleasantly surprised to see that my iPhone photos were getting a lot more activity than normal. I had over 700 views, 50 comments, and 34 favorites. Totally out of the norm. I couldn't figure out the reason for all the traffic. But then I got an email from Google alerts pinning my name to a certain blog. I checked it out and sure enough a short little feature about me and my photos was up (I knew a post was going to be made, but I never knew when it would be posted).
My iPhone pictures were showcased on the popular iPhoneography blog iPhoneography.com. This was really cool considering pictures are created to be seen, after all that's why photographers take 'em right? So what a better way than to be able to share mine with a community that I love. I think it's cool to see how a little hobby like taking pictures with my "cell phone" has grown into something that I really feel is apart of my everyday life. It definitely has changed how I see the world since I am always looking to snap a cool shot. You can check out my little iPhone showcase here.
Just want to close with a big thanks to all of you who subscribe to my Posterous or friend me on Flickr. It's really appreciated!
